From the recording Unforgettable You
This song is a reflection on the kind of love that runs so deep, you’re scared time might blur the memories. I wrote it for my little brother who has been the light of my life since he arrived on July 7th, 2008. I hope these lyrics elicit fond memories of someone you’ve loved in your life, whether they’re still here with you or not. The song begins gently with mandolin and acoustic, evoking a peaceful and nostalgic summer day. Thunderous drums introduce a ’60s-inspired “wall of sound”, complete with 12-string electric guitar, bouncy bass lines, and layered harmonies—think early Beatles meets the Ronettes. Thank you for listening and I hope you can feel the love we put into making it!
Lyrics
That summer day we met
I think it was the seventh of July
So much has happened since that day
I fear I may forget someday
The little things I love the most about you
How to preserve these memories in my mind
Will they fade away
Would time be so unkind
So I will sing a symphony of all your smiles
Then listen for a while
To the tune
Of my unforgettable you
Through winter’s chill
A lonely flame still embers
‘Cause it’s a love
That only time remembers
Dreams may blur reality
But you still mean so much to me
It’s just what happens when hearts are intertwined
Both of us will find
Love cannot stop time
I will paint a pastel portrait in a frame
And sign the letters of your name
In your favorite blue
My unforgettable you
Through winter’s chill
A lonely flame still embers
‘Cause it’s a love
That only time remembers
Dreams may blur reality
But you still mean so much to me
It seems so far away
Echoing your name
So time won’t steal away, away
It’s just what happens when hearts are intertwined
Both of us will find
Love cannot stop time
So I will paste all of our pictures in a book
And any time you wanna look
It’ll feel brand new
My unforgettable you
My unforgettable you
Ahhh… you
